About

Welcome to The Pet Check-In. This site is for people who love their pets and also, regrettably, have to leave the house.

Who this is for

If you work away from home, travel, or simply spend a lot of your day wondering what the cat is up to, you’re in the right place. Cat people and dog people are both welcome. The cat will pretend not to care either way.

What you’ll find here

  • Guides to pet cameras, automatic feeders and fountains, GPS trackers, litter boxes and enrichment gadgets
  • Printable checklists for weekends away, long trips and handing things over to a sitter
  • Honest answers about what a gadget really costs, including the subscriptions

How I review things

I dig through specs, manuals, owner reports and the fine print, especially the subscription terms. Every review answers the same four questions: who it’s best for, who should skip it, what it really costs, and what to do when it fails. When I’ve actually used something myself, I’ll say so.

One more thing worth saying: no gadget replaces a real person checking in on a pet during a longer trip. Tech is a helpful backup, not a babysitter.

How the site pays for itself

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy through them, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes what I recommend. You can read the details on the affiliate disclosure page.

About me

I’m a real person who prefers to stay anonymous, mainly so the focus stays on the pets and the products. If you have a question or a gadget you’d like me to look at, use the contact page.
